First Set

The first set of Feedsack (or Repro 1930's fabric) blocks for the TreadleOn block exchange are done. The pattern is a paper pieced one that I modified. Think that I'll do another set but modify it again. What do you think??? k

Boogie the helper kittie

Last night while all was calm, I was sewing on my TreadleOn Feedsack blocks for the February exchange... Boogie, the quality control department, wanted to assist but decided that watching from across the sewing table was the best course of action. She has found the boxes of fabric strips and made one of them her favorite nest for observing activity at the sewing room... k

Bobbins a Plenty

I just can't help myself.
Bobbin lace was the reason way I got into the Atlanta Chapter of IOLI in the first place. I studied with my mentor Betty Kemp for years, enjoying every minute of it. Somewhere a long the time line I learned tatting and never turned back.... I've picked up the bobbins and pillow every now and then but the major part of my lacemaking is now tatting. That, however, doesn't seem to keep me from gathering more bobbins... some are gifts and some are purchases of weakness, maybe I am telling myself that I'll get back to my pillow some day soon... While straightening my computer desk and sewing room one weekend I found all these bobbins tucked away amoungst my other treasures.... They should be in the bobbin box but I am enjoying their bouquet in the mug...something sweet to look at while I work on the computer...k

Another One For The Herd

Over the weekend I visited an Estate Sale near the house, matter of fact, my husband was the one that alerted me to the sale... he was on the way to meet a buddy for a day of browsing at a gun show... I digress... I was going to the sale for nothing in particular even after walking through the house, which was packed with collectibles and beautiful pottery items the only thing that drew my attention was an electric Pfaff 130. I really didn't need another machine but there'd recently been a long conversation on the TreadleOn digest regarding this machine and how it could treadled. Even though I'd talked them down $20 just by showing interest I left my name, phone number and a bid of $40. Sure enough later that day they called.... the baby is now sitting on the kitchen counter waiting for it's first cleaning... it appears in pretty good shape. I've already arranged with Marc up at Ashby's Sewing Machines to take a look at it.

My "little quilts"

Over the years a great many of my smaller quilts have ended up hanging in my husband's office, meaning that i never see them again unless I pay I pay a visit to his work place. They are doing major construction in the building at present so the quilts have come home to roost for a time. Since these have been done a span of many years, before I had a digital camera and way before I had this blog I thought I'd take the opportunity to post their pictures today... Enjoy... k

This is my smallest quilt to date...a coaster. This is another quilt project in the Bear Hunting series for my husband...
